ASAPS Statistics For The Most Popular Cosmetic Procedures 2021-2022

Americans opted to enhance their appearance in 2021 after spending a year or more on Zoom calls due to the covid-19 outbreak. The Aesthetic Society has announced its 2022 forecasts, which highlight the projected aesthetic cosmetic surgery tendencies in the future year.

Before and After Photos

The Aesthetic Society, which has over 2,600 board-certified cosmetic surgeons as members, is at the vanguard of research, training, and what the aesthetic business will look like in the future. Members’ insights include unique tendencies that have persisted from the beginning of the COVID-19 outbreak, more treatments performed at once to meet demand, and young patients asking procedures that are popular among middle-aged individuals.

According to data from Aesthetic Society members using the Aesthetic Neural Network (ANN) data, operated by Ronan Solutions, Americans spent more than $8.7 billion on aesthetic cosmetic procedures from January 1, 2021, to July 1, 2021, indicating that 2021 has ended the year with record-breaking revenue numbers.

Americans spent more than $6 billion on cosmetic surgical operations in 2020 and more than $3 billion on nonsurgical aesthetic procedures. Following an exceptional year in 2020, which included limits on elective surgeries, the aesthetics business has experienced a rise in demand for cosmetic surgery that has yet to alleviate.

The Surge Of Different Procedures

“The COVID-19 outbreak and coping with the different changes it produced made 2021 a remarkable year for our profession,” remarked William P. Adams, Jr., MD, chairman of The Aesthetic Society. “Demand is higher than it has ever been, and it is unlikely to abate in the coming year. Nonetheless, our members are an exclusive group that uses the most sophisticated, safest practices. Our members will have even more opportunities in 2022 to deliver the safest treatment to the rising patient population.”

From January 2021 to July 2021, blepharoplasty was the most popular surgical treatment among those aged 50 to 80. However, Aesthetic Society member surgeons predict that younger women will seek eyelid surgery or blepharoplasty in 2022 due to the online meeting boom.

The use of masks has increased the need for operations involving the eyes. Even if the vaccination eliminates COVID-19, mask use may be long-term. Because you can only view the upper part of your face when wearing a mask, many treatments currently focus on the eyes. That doesn’t imply that individuals aren’t interested in addressing the lower face. Demand for cosmetic improvements for the lower part of the face and neck is said to have been fueled by Zoom and other virtual platforms.

Members of the Aesthetic Society predict that the pervasiveness of video conferences will continue to drive people to seek out face procedures to fix flaws they may not have recognized before, as well as surgical and nonsurgical skin treatments. Neurotoxin injections were the most popular nonsurgical therapy in the first six months of 2021, accounting for 54.25 percent of the top five nonsurgical treatments.

Final Thoughts

Plastic surgery has made significant strides in the past few years as more and more people are becoming comfortable with it. But the year 2021 and 2022 has incredible demand because of the covid-19 pandemic and its effects. More and more people are noticing and rectifying flaws they didn’t recognize before. But because of the advancements in the cosmetic surgery industry, we can say that the upcoming years will be really good for the plastic and aesthetic surgery industry.
