Thigh Lift – Tone and Refine Leg Shape

Arm Lift Surgery

A thigh lift, also known as thighplasty, can significantly improve the appearance of upper legs with loose and excess skin as a result of weight loss. The procedure involves the removal excess skin, fat, and tissue to tone and refine the upper legs.

The upper legs become an increasingly problematic area as people age. Some find that despite massive weight loss, the thighs remain stubbornly resistant to diet and exercise. Thigh lift surgery reshapes the thighs, resulting in smoother skin and better-proportioned contours of the thighs and lower body.

The procedure is often performed in conjunction with liposuction to get rid of excess fat.

FAQs about Thigh Lift

An thigh lift, also known as as a thighplasty, can significantly improve the appearance of legs by removing excess skin that is sagging or appear loose. Liposuction by itself, though frequently done in conjunction with a thigh lift, does not correct the issue of excess skin which often is the result of significant weight loss, natural aging, and heredity.
There are many types of thigh lifts to address each patient’s needs and preferences.

A mini thigh lift, offers less dramatic results, but addresses sagging tissue in the upper third of the leg.

A medial thigh lift procedure addresses reduced skin elasticity caused by the aging and/or extreme weight loss and eliminates excess fat from the inner thigh that is resistant to diet and exercise.

For a thigh lift, the type of scar depends on the extent of the surgery and by the size and shape of the incision used to remove excess skin, fat, and tissue. Thigh lifts do leave scars. However, the scars often pale in comparison to the benefits provided by the procedure. Cleaning your incisions properly and avoiding sun exposure to your thighs for several months after your surgery can help minimize the visibility of scars.

With a mini thigh lift, modification of the inner thigh involves a short scar in the groin area.

During a medial thigh lift procedure, an incision is made in the groin and extends to the medial aspect of the knee.

Recovery time is highly dependent on the patient and how their body responds to thigh lift surgery. Before leaving the center, you will be given specific instructions on how to care for your legs, medications to use, and when to follow-up with Dr. Azad. When sleeping, it will be important to position your body so that you do not stretch your thigh tissue and pillows should be used to take pressure off of the legs during healing process. For the first few days, you will need to take sponge baths but showering may resume after clearance from Dr. Azad. Patients are normally able to return to work and begin sitting with the assistance of pillows after two weeks. After the procedure, light walking is encouraged to help stimulate healing and reduce your risk for blood clots. Exercise and normal activity can resume typically eight weeks after your thigh lift surgery.
