Tax season is here, and if you are fortunate enough to have Uncle Sam send a tax refund your way, you may be considering spending it on cosmetic surgery. When it comes to spending that money, some people look to make a lasting impact on their quality of life, and it comes as no surprise that many people invest in the long-lasting results of many cosmetic procedures. According to a survey taken by RealSelf last year, 29% of their online community planned to spend part of their tax refund on cosmetic surgery. Depending on how big your tax refund is, there are many options on where to spend your money.

Cosmetic Procedures for $100

For about $100, you may find yourself being interested in cosmetic MediSpa procedures. Facials are great for improving your skin tone and texture as they are believed to increase blood flow, cell turnover, and exfoliate dead skin cells. Most MediSpa’s offer various types of facials such as an Oxygen Facial, Vitamin C Facial, Deep Sea Facial, Hydra Facial, and Deep Cleansing Facial, to name a few. You may also be interested in a salicylic peel, which is a chemical peel using beta hydroxy acid. It is known to be successful in helping fight acne by treating clogged pores and oily skin.

Reduce Signs of Aging for $500

Cosmetic Surgery With $500, you can do more to help rejuvenate your skin and reduce signs of aging. Botox is a very popular injection that temporarily relaxes facial muscles to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, as well as prevent new lines from forming. It can also be used as treatment for migraines, excessive sweating, and psoriasis.

Cosmetic Laser Procedures for $1,000

When your tax refund is $1,000 or more, you may want to opt for laser hair removal. Laser hair removal is a treatment that can be performed on any part of the body. Lasers are used to target the roots of hair underneath the skin’s surface, and though there is no guarantee the hair will be permanently removed, after a series of treatments, most experience a major reduction in hair or permanent hair removal. If you have a tattoo you regret, you may look into tattoo removal, a procedure that uses lasers, dermabrasion, or excision to destroy or remove the ink in an unwanted tattoo. Another popular option is injectable fillers, such as Juvederm ®. This FDA-approved hyaluronic acid dermal filler lasts on average from 9-12 months, and is often used to smooth moderate facial lines, add volume to cheeks, and plump up lips.

Cosmetic Surgery for $5,000

The government has given a big chunk of your hard earned money back, congratulations! With this big of a refund, there are many opportunities available to you to achieve dramatic results. For skin procedures, many people choose to have Co2 Skin Resurfacing, which is a carbon dioxide laser that removes outer layers of skin with vaporization to reduce the appearance of deep lines and wrinkles, unlike chemical peels or dermabrasion, which use chemicals or a sanding device.

Depending on where you live, $5,000 can also get you far in terms of paying for surgical procedures. Breast augmentation nationwide averages around $6,000, and sometimes can be even cheaper for saline implants versus silicone. The cost of liposuction is often based on the number of areas treated, but the national average is around $5,000-$6,000 for three areas. If you have a few stubborn fat deposits that will not go away despite diet and exercise, liposuction might be a great solution for you.

No matter how big or small your tax refund maybe, you may find yourself wanting to invest that money in yourself. Having a minor non-invasive procedure or a larger surgical cosmetic procedure to improve physical appearance may be a factor in helping develop self-confidence and ultimately creating a more happy, healthy, and confident person.
